I say street walker because when she walked outside there were some homeless people standing outside the store and she gave one of them her dog. They all hung out there together and she looked a little doped up to me. But hey she could of been having a bad day!

Thanks for your comment!

Street walkers? Really? South Florida must be a much tonier place than Seattle -- this lady looks pretty normal to me. Walgreens is not a place where food is prepared, so there wouldn't be a issue with dogs in the store if the proprietors are okay with it. And this dog is well-contained in the cart -- no chance that he's going to bite anyone or even shed on them. I prefer to put my dog in a carrier, but I don't have a problem with this lady's approach. Better than having a leashed dog underfoot, in my opinion.

Exactly! Dogs can get very anxious and nervous on a long trip which can cause them to "go" unintentionally, even in their comfortable crate.

Great advice, particularly about exercising in advance! Everyone likes to take a long walk before a long car or plane ride -- why would your pet be any different! :-)

I just thought that your readers may be interested to know that we (www.maps4pets.com ) have recently partnered with the Cinnamon Trust (http://www.cinnamon.org.uk/ ) to promote the importance that the elderly and their pets should not be seperated. We therefore have published a map listing the top rated pet friendly care homes in the UK. This list is in addition to a host of other interactive maps that relate to pets and their owners including information on pet friendly holidays in UK, USA, Canada and Europe. Enjoy.
